Welcome, dancers. We look forward to your performance and participation in our fourth annual L. A. Bellydance Competition. Completing this form assists our organization and will ensure you are correctly registered for the competition. We are awarding participants with awards, scholarships and cash prizes. You agree to the L. A. Bellydance Competition's rules and regulations by completing this online form.

EVENT SCHEDULE

November 15, 2025

Venue: L. A. Bellydance Academy, 1644 S. La Cienega Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90035 

11:45 am Welcome classes for all contestants * Free for all contestants  *

1:00 pm Master Class with Ahmed Hussien * $65 price included with soloist category registration

3:00 - 8:00 Preliminary Event * Contestants will have a scheduled preliminary performance time. Performance times will be provided by November 10, 2025, to your email account on file. The preliminary performance is not public. Each contestant will receive verbal feedback and a score from preliminary judge. The top 10 scores make it to the finale round. If a single category receives more than 10 entries, the lowest preliminary scores will be eliminated, and will not perform in the finale round. Video submissions are allowed in the preliminary round. Please submit your video to Stefanya@labellydanceacademy.com by November 1, 2025. 

We will provide you with a video of your preliminary performance for a fee of $25.

CATEGORIES

Competitive 

  • Raks Sharki Spectacle - Routine may include the use of finger cymbals and props such as veil, cane, melaya leff or shamadan, but will not deduct points if these are not included. Time allowance: no longer than 3:15, no shorter than 2 minutes. Registration Fee: $85



  • Drum Solo Royale - During the prelims, contestants will dance to their recorded audio music. For the finale, contestants will perform live with our LABC drummer. All contestants will perform simultaneously to a drum solo arrangement they will receive at the prelim event.   Time allowance: no longer than 3:15, no shorter than 2 minutes. Registration Fee: $85



  • Fusion - May include Mahraghanat (electro-shaabi), ATS, Trans-National Dance or World Dance fusions, Acrobatics, and props like fan veils, swords, poi, etc. Time allowance: no longer than 3:15, no shorter than 2 minutes. Registration Fee: $85


  • Révérence - This category is for distinguished dancers aged 60 and above. It is an open category, so contestants can perform in their chosen style. Time allowance: no longer than 2:45, no shorter than 2 minutes. Register here. Registration Fee: $85


  • MENAHT Folklore - This category is for the dancers who wish to present traditional or theatrical folklore from the Middle East, North Africa, Hellenic or Turkic cultures. Time allowance: no longer than 3:15, no shorter than 2 minutes. Registration Fee: $85



  • Open Groups (2+ members) - Performance is better together! Duets, trios, and groups of four or more dancers are welcome to present in this open-style category. Time allowance: no longer than 3:15, no shorter than 2 minutes. Registration Fee: $35 per dancer for groups of 7+ dancers and $50 per dancer for groups between 2-6 dancers.


Non-Competitive 

  • Rising Stars (14-19yrs, open style) A teen open style category for the dancing youth to share their emerging skills. Time allowance: no longer than 3:15, no shorter than 2 minutes. Registration Fee: $125  Includes contestant's seat reservation at the finale event.

 

  • Initiates (non-competitive evaluation form, 3yr experience max) New dancers can take advantage of the rare opportunity to receive professional feedback on their live performance within this non-competitive category. Time allowance: no longer than 3:15, no shorter than 2 minutes. Registration Fee: $125. Includes contestant's seat reservation at the finale event.



ENTRY TIMES

L. A. Bellydance Competition allows a ten-second grace period for each routine. Five points will be deducted every five seconds after the grace period.

ENTRY FEES

Entry fees are per number and performer. They are due in full at the time of registration, which must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on November 1, 2025. All payments are non-transferable and non-refundable.

RULES

No nudity, No animals, No fire

Contestants are not allowed in the performance area during their competitive category.

Contestants must participate in all competition activities, including Ahmed Hussien's master workshop, preliminary, and final event. Non-participation in any of our L. A. Bellydance Competition activities will result in disqualification from the finale awards ceremony.

POINT DEDUCTION

Contestants will have points deducted during the final event if they do not adhere to the policies and rules of the competition or event venue.

I, the participant, do hereby release Stephanie McKinley Chabloz, The Los Angeles Bellydance Academy (LABA), Mid City Arts Center, and its representatives from any and all liability or in any way related to my use of the facilities, equipment, or apparatus at The Los Angeles Bellydance Academy (LABA), its owners, operators, instructors, employees, agents, servants and affiliated center(s); and /or my participation in any class, program, competition or other event organized, run and/or sponsored by or held at The Los Angeles Bellydance Academy (LABA), hold harmless the said claims, demands, costs, expenses and compensation arising out of or in the course of or in any way related to any personal injury to me.

By signing this release, I acknowledge my understanding and acceptance of the following:

Dance can be an active sport, which requires strength, agility, and concentration, and it is solely my responsibility to determine that I am in good health and good physical and mental condition before permitting myself to exercise, work out, receive instruction, or perform.

In the event of an accident or emergency, I would like to be taken to a hospital for medical treatment and I hold Stephanie McKinley Chabloz, The Los Angeles Bellydance Academy (LABA) and its representatives harmless in their execution of this action. Additionally, I hereby agree to individually provide for all possible future medical expenses which may be incurred by me as a result of any injury sustained while participating at or for the Los Angeles Bellydance Academy (LABA).

I grant to Los Angeles Bellydance Academy, its representatives and employees the right to take photographs and or video of me and my property in connection with the company. I authorize Los Angeles Bellydance Academy, its assigns and transferees to copyright, use and publish the same in print and/or electronically. I agree that Los Angeles Bellydance Academy may use such images of me with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, advertising, and Web content.
